A Product of the Cold Cold North

Norse Projects x Elka Classic Anker Jacket

Despite establishing as an in-house brand in 2009 from a store of the same name, Norse Projects only really grabbed my attention around a year and a half ago.

Now, however, it has quickly become one of my favourite brands to wear and I barely ever leave the house without it.

Norse Projects are known for doing simple things well. Their minimal but functional approach make for desirable collections and their collaboration with fellow Danes, Elka, shows why.

Made from a huge chunk of PVC, the Norse Projects Elka Anker Jackets are 100% waterproof and perfect for the rain and cold ridden winter months ahead.

Due to their welded seems and classic oversized raincoat fit, there is plenty of room to squeeze a couple of layers in and they’re pretty warm themselves, too.

Elka have been keeping people dry for over 50 years so if you’re looking for a raincoat, don’t be afraid to put your trust in these guys.

This particular colour was a last minute summer sale pick-up from Grants 1856 but there are plenty of other colour ways knocking about.

Autumn Wear with Le Laboureur

Le Laboureur Moleskine Work Jacket | Carhartt Kennedy Pant | Converse Chuck Taylor 1970’s

For me, autumn is the best season. It’s when you finally make that long transition from t-shirt weather to layering up and surely no location defines autumn as much as The Arboretum in Nottingham.

My girlfriend, India, moved to Nottingham for university last year giving me an opportunity to explore a completely new city. The Arboretum is located conveniently over the road from her flat and seemed a great location for my first blog post.

These work jackets from Le Laboureur act as the perfect staple to your autumn wardrobe. Layer them over a shirt and/or jumper on bitter cold days or a t-shirt on those slightly warmer days like myself.

This particular style comes in three colours, black, ecru and marine. I went for ecru as I thought it was the most unusual and autumnal colour although I would love to own all three.

Le Laboureur have been a family run business since the 50s. Originating from Southern Burgandy, France, Primo Zelanti created the brand Le Laboureur (‘The Ploughman’) in 1956.

They are still made the same traditional way today using 100% French cotton moleskin fabrics that will wear in naturally over time and give each jacket a unique look.

They fit true to size but are roomy enough to consider sizing down for a slimmer looking fit.

They’re not the easiest to source in the UK but you can find them online at The Shopkeeper Store for a reasonable £95 alongside a lighter cotton drill alternative and wool versions perfect for winter.
